Burkina Faso tabled voluntary pledges and commitments in support of its candidacy for membership for the period 2019-2021 on 18 October 2018.
Internationally, Burkina Faso committed to: support the work of the OHCHR; implement the UPR recommendations received by the State; strengthen cooperation with civil society organizations; continue battling female genital mutilation and violence against women and girls; implement the 2030 Agenda.
An analysis of the steps taken by Burkina Faso in fulfilment of its international level pledges shows that it has completed around 40% of the Special Procedures visits and has responded to over 50% of communications. It is yet to issue a standing invitation. Burkina Faso did not make a voluntary contribution to the OHCHR and does not have OHCHR field presence.
